Hogtown hash #1174
Hare: Rose Eh
Black Swan
After a hard day of playing with other people’s money, Rose Eh enjoys playing with other people's minds – in this case, the "minds" of the hash, when she decides to set a trail. I know, that’s not saying much, but it was a Monday after all and perhaps we had a right to be treated gently.
But we set out from the Black Swan on the Danforth and headed west and kept on going (all of us except Humpday, that is, who appeared but declined to run on account of the gout – surely the best ever reason to go on the athletic DL). We crossed the Viaduct and kept on going, passed Castle Frank and kept on going, passed Parliament and kept on going, and finally just when it looked like we were on our way to Saskatchewan the trail followed the footbridge over Rosedale Valley Road and we entered that leafy, sylvan WASP/FOOF enclave.
We evaded the rabid dogs and crazed cougars of Rosedale all the way to Milkman’s Road, down into that ravine till it comes out overlooking Bayview and then up the trail as far as the Brickworks. We cut through the Brickworks property and crossed Bayview, then followed a path beside the train tracks till it got to Pottery Road. Then we had the pleasure of climbing the long hill of Pottery Road up to Broadview, where we had a very pleasant outdoor beer check at Whistler's. Though Rose Eh and Not Without My Shoes slipped off to inspect Rose Eh’s condo – Notty needed to check that Rose Eh’s carpet matched her drapes or something.
Then it was back to revel in the minimalist ambiance of the Black Swan. You could have anything you liked for dinner, as long as you were prepared to go somewhere else to get it. Some contented themselves with chips or peanuts, but several others went next door for Mickey Dee's finest.
